Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to gift a very personal and meaningful present to the one you love.

Chinese Valentine’s Day is celebrated on the 7th day of the 7th month (in the Chinese calendar) because this is the day that the 7th daughter of the Emperor of Heaven was separated from her orphaned lover. The daughter was forced to move to a star named Vega and the lover moved to the star named Altair. They are only allowed to meet once a year on the 7th day of 7th lunar month. So, on the occasion of Valentine’s Day in China, lovers go to the Matchmaker Temple and pray for their love and happiness and, hopefully marriage.

Another piece of ‘ love folklore ‘ involves the dove. Doves have been thought of as magical birds for centuries and were often used to try and divine the future. If you saw a white dove fly overhead, the event was supposed to be a good omen. If you had a dream about of a dove it was supposed to be a sign that you would be happy. And, when you saw the first dove of spring, you had to make a wish because it was believed that the wish would come true.

This spectacular and rare zirconite and gold pendant features the lucky Indalo, recognised in Spain as a symbol of protection and good fortune. This one originates from Andalucía where even today in the small village pueblos that lie hidden behind the giant sierras that roll down to the Mediterranean shores, the Indalo is a special good luck symbol.
